Flying.com sells for $1.1 Million

flying.jpgUsedAirplanes.com has purchased Flying.com for $1.1 Million.

The new owners of Flying.com are currently developing the site to be launched on June 1st, 2010. The website will be used to display used airplanes and aircraft from UsedAirplanes.com. Flying.com currently states that it is “in the process of developing the first community and social media based portal for flying.” 


The press release states that “Flying.com will be the first website
developed from the ground up with Apple’s new iPad format in mind
throughout the development.”

Flying.com is the highest reported 2010
domain sale.

Flying.com was registered in 1994 and sold to investors in September of 2009, for an undisclosed amount. Mark J Horne, CEO of UsedAirplanes.com, has wanted to buy the domain from the investors since the 2009 sale.

Fly.com sold to Travelzoo for $1.76 Million in 2009.
