MediaNews to follow News Corp. - Weighing Google block

News Corp. rival MediaNews Group Inc., will block some of their stories from Google Inc.'s news site next year when the company starts charging for premium online content.

News Corp. is considering blocking Google's search engine from displaying its news articles and is talking to Microsoft Corp. about displaying stories on its Bing site.

Microsoft, Google, Murdoch, Wall Street Journal just a couple big names that will make this move interesting to follow.

insure.jpg Insure.com has recently sold for whopping US$16 million recently! This is a huge increase from 2001 when it was sold for $1.6 million. Involved in the US$16 million transaction is the domain name and the website itself.

China to apply for .中国 'Zhongguo' domain name

chinaflag.pngChina Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) today will apply for the top-level Chinese domain name "Zhongguo"(written in pinyin), to key Internet oversight agency the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), www.people.com.cn reported Global netizens may be able to log on to the Internet with the new domain at the beginning of next year at the earliest, according to reports.

Egypt launches Arabic web domain

egyptflag.pngEgypt will open the world's first Arabic language internet domain, its communications minister has said.

Tarek Kamel said the new domain name would be ".masr" written in the Arabic alphabet. It translates as ".Egypt".

"It is a great moment for us... The internet now speaks Arabic," Mr Kamel said.

IDN ccTLD Fast Track Process Launch

  icann-logo.png16 November 2009,  ICANN is pleased to announce the launch of the IDN ccTLD Track Process.

Non-English speakers across the globe will soon  have access to the Internet addresses completely in their own lanuage.  The Internet Corportation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the organization charged with overseeing the Internet's naming and numbering systems, is today launching a process for delegating a number of internationalized top-level domains.
