Remember to renew your domain names...

or be prepared for a lot of grief!

If you let your domain expire it becomes available for other domainers to purchase. If another domainer purchases your domain you will no longer have access to that particular domain name.

Unfortunately we see this happen every single day, someone trying to get back a domain that they let expire or failed to renew in time, in some cases it can be from years ago.
Renewing your domain name is normally a simple process. Often your registrar will contact you prior to expiry to ensure that you renew your domain name, but this doesn't always happen! To prevent any problems you can contact them and renew in advance. It is important to have your contact details up-to-date so the registrar is able to contact you, in case you forget. Generally you can check the expiry date of your domain by doing a quick whois search. As an extra measure write the expiry dates of your domains on the calendar.

After a domain expires there is a grace period, in which your domain goes through phases and you have two months to recover your domain for a minimal fee.

However if you do let your domain expire and someone else purchases it, be aware that you may not be able to get it back, or at the very best get it back for a lot more than the registration renewal fees.
